Tomorrow, Friday 10 February 2017, Athletics South Africa will host a very important workshop in which event organisers including the Comrades Marathon, Two Oceans Marathon, Cape Town Marathon, ASA Championships and others have been invited.

The main purpose of this session is to inform and discuss the role of the SABC in broadcasting athletics events in the 2017 athletics calendar.

The workshop will be held at the OR Tambo Garden Court Hotel in Isando, Kempton Park in Johannesburg starting at 10am.

Amongst other important matters on the agenda is the re-emphasising on the new rules on Events Bibs and Licences, procedures on the Participation of Foreign Athletes, the Role of Athletes Managers and Agents, the 2017 ASA Calendar, and ASA Delegations.

“It is a highly crucial meeting in which the national federation shares with organisers, in particular, information which directly affects them,” explained Aleck Skhosana, the President of Athletics South Africa.

“It is important for the SABC to outline and explain to organisers, the broadcast plan and schedules for the season in order to offer clarity where it is needed.

“We trust that all participants will take advantage of this workshop to understand the role of ASA in improving the governance of the sport.”
